Imagine having to try and live on my cooking. It's doable but there's better folks who can do it.
[When you are a poor person, you tend to not be picky. Food is food so she never really minds the taste, as long as it's edible. She gestures to the miqo'te to follow her as she leads them down to the markets where various street food is on display, including the popcorn stand from her first trip.]
That place has some good snacks; I enjoyed their lemon and pepper flavor most of all but all of them are pretty good, even the sweet ones.
[But she's more focused on something more hearty. And there was a thing she hasn't tried yet, pointing to a stand with a sign reading 'Arancini' with dozens of what appears to be...fried balls?]
Do you believe yourself skilled enough for your own tastes? If so, well that's all that matters, food is such a personal thing after all.
[He followed along after her, the scent of street food quickly reaching him. And he looks delighted, pausing every now and again by whatever snack managed to catch his eye. Not buying anything, oh no, only occasionally taking an offered sample.
It was only when she herself paused to point out a sign that he'd actually give it the majority of his attention.]
I can't say that I have... But they look delicious, don't they? Why not have a few? Nothing ventured, nothing gained. It could be a new favorite meal.
Skilled enough not to kill myself with it at least.
[She doesn't think about it as much but the food in front of her is more distracting. So Mira in turn asks the vendor what exactly they are; turns out that these balls are fried with rice inside and filled with meat sauce and cheese.]
That sounds good actually. We'll take the sharing size if you don't mind?
[Seriously, these balls can be fit in a handheld box and she doesn't mind sharing with the miqo'te. As she pulls out money to pay the vendor with, X'rhun notice a couple other things she pulls out of her pockets. Such as keys, her communication device and a couple of stones including a very familiar red teardrop one in the mix. But they go back as soon as she finishes paying and her saying something 'mayhap I need a bag'. Instead, she holds the box of fried balls to him.]
Well then, let us try this together. Can't go wrong with rice, no?
[Because if so,] I'd always wanted to take a cooking class or two myself, but I've never found quite enough free time for it, understandably. But it would seem both you and I have more than enough of that to spare, should you find yourself invested in learning another skill.
[Oh, but that description of the food though, that had his full attention. Yes, it did sound good, he'd agree. He didn't miss, of course, the glimmer of a familiar looking stone as she sorts through her pockets for payment. His eyes would brighten at the sight of it, distracted only momentarily by the rice ball.]
Thank you, 'tis kind of you. Remind me to return the favor later. [Already gently plucking one from the box, before he'd pop it in his mouth proper, he'd ask,] Are you one for magic, Mira?
[Mira gets a little pale in the face because she wasn't thinking about when she pulled them out. Which would be worse: seeing her stone or the tattoo on her wrist with the same symbol? She groans and puts a hand to her face.]
Hells, I was going to wait a bit before talking about that since you got here and the last thing you need is a damn surprise. I didn't steal it if you're worried; it was given to me.
'Tis not so shocking, I've found... No, but you are now another name and face I know naught of, that I clearly should.
So many relationships, so many friends and students I've made and met, and I cannot recall a single one of you. [For indeed, if she didn't steal that stone, then there was only one person she could have gotten it from.]
... I've my work cut out for me, and to think I thought I might find myself with nothing to do here! [Upset? Him? Oh no, no it's the opposite, he's already excited.]
[She was expecting the worst. After all, someone did outright say that she wasn't who she thought she was and it stings. Sure she was expecting questioning but that was...different. And here is one of her teachers saying while he didn't know who she was but also that a lot of others did as well...and he's not worried.]

What about this? Ever heard of it?

[She follows suit and pops one into her mouth, making a satisfied hum as means of approving this particular treat. These are pretty good!]
I do use magic in my combat style if you are curious.

And what of the stone in your pockets? ... I know the shape of the red mages job stone like the back of my hand, I could draw it with my eyes closed.
[The tone wasn't accusatory, not really. Though he was pressing, wanting for an answer, that much was clear.]

You're...not upset at me?
